On 3rd down, you will see Tony Gibson and his Nc State shift into some 4 hands pressures with man coverage. He can play some zone and man but has shown various 4 and 5 man pressures. Here are 2 4 man pressures with man concepts involved.
#1
Front-4 man
pressure mike w a game
Coverage 2 man DE peel for RB
3rd and 6
coverage man free rat
DE peel rule has rb his way
In the 2nd example the run peel rules but go man free rat.
game:Twist inside
They do a nice job of taking away the mesh with the ILB as he helps on the route as a rat defender. The twist inside gets home and they get the sack.
Nice call on 3rd down getting off the field
In example #2 vs LA Tech
3rd and 6
they go man free rat. THE ILB gets under the mesh route and takes that away. The DE covers the rb so no place to go with the football in the primary read. Nice design and understanding of route concepts vs condensed to the boundary.
Vs UNC they ran a nice pressure on 2 different occasions. They bring the safety to the boundary 2x and get home both times on the pressure. In the first example the coverage is man free rat. DE peels with the rb so he take him. LB helps underneath in the man free scheme
You can see how the game gets home.
3rd and 11 va UNC
In the next 2 examples the NC STATE defense will bring the safety to the boundary into the b gap. On both occasions the safety goes untouched. Nice scheme vs 3x1 strong.
Man free Rat
Safety blitz b gap away from the back.
Nice design and execution as the safety comes unblocked.
